“Crafted with immense heart, this production honors the legacy of Rabbi Herschel Gluck, whose life work promotes understanding and harmony for everyone involved.”
Winstan and Elin's film is an honest celebration of one man's gentle but powerful wisdom and actions, that transcend the barriers that seek to divide communities. Palpable evidence of kindred spirits, filmmaker and subject, enjoying their time together, interlaced with heartwarming moments of humour. A lesson for us all, of a life well lived, captured so meticulously in our Hackney.
Thank you for the lovely, sensitive, intelligent and visually striking film that I’ve just had the pleasure to see”.
It was both a beautiful love song for London but also a wider call for a more compassionate response to those we live alongside. In a time of increasing fragmentation in society where it is easy for us all to sit behind the safety of our keyboards. The film is a radical call to another way. How to get on with Everybody is not just a film . It is a challenge and a call to action and one I know Hackney will continue to respond to. “
As well as making me laugh and cry, the filmmakers have produced a beautiful and intimate insight into how communities work together and the complex and difficult histories that make up London as well as the importance of the sanctuary our borough has offered for generations, to people forced to flee their home countries. It feels really important to remember this now. If we could all learn to give a little of the love Rabbi Herschel Gluck shows in our daily lives, the world will feel brighter.”
